Two recognised masterpieces of Vasiliy Kandinsky – Composition VI and Composition VII - meet «face to face» for the first time in 27 years. The works from the collections of the Tretyakov Gallery and the State Hermitage come together to form a self-sufficient exposition, complemented with a thorough analysis of creative process of producing these works of art.
Three halls of the Tretyakov Gallery on Krymskiy Val narrate a coherent story. Hall one – manifest: the original text written by Vasiliy Kandinskiy explains his creative ways and methods, and the curators’ introductory word becomes the guide for visitors into the context of the exhibition. Hall two – reconstruction: a multimedia installation visualizing the stages of formation of the paintings, the process of gradual «dissolving” of material forms. Hall three – Kandinsky: the actual meeting with Composition VI and Composition VII, a time to stop, to meditate, to experience and take in the art.
